Every family
where each member is responsible for its comfort, success in
work, health and good spirits must be a strong unit. We ought
not to forget that we are all members of society, and the family
is the most important thing for each of us.
Now I want to tell you a few words about my family. My family is
quite large. I have a mother, a father, a sister and a brother.
There are five of us in the family.
First of all I'll tell you a little about my parents. My mother
is a school teacher of biology. She likes her profession. She is
a good-looking tall and slim woman with brown hair. She is
fifty-three, but she looks much younger.
My father is a computer programmer. He is very experienced. He
is a tall broad-shouldered man with fair hair and grey eyes. He
is fifty-six. My father often sings and when we are at home and
have some free time I play the guitar and we sing together. My
father is handy with many things. When he was small he liked to
take everything to pieces. My grandmother told me how my father
once tried to «repair» their kitchen clock. He managed to put
all the wheels and screws back again, but the clock didn't work.
They had to give it to a repairman. But that happened a long
time ago. Now he can fix almost everything: a vacuum cleaner, a
washing machine, a fridge and what not. He's got a few shelves
where he keeps everything he needs.
My parents have been married for twenty-six years. They have
much in common, but they have different views on music, books,
films and sports. For example, my father likes horror films and
my mother likes soap operas. My father is fond of tennis. My
mother doesn't go in for sports. But my parents have the same
opinion about our education and upbringing.
My parents are hard-working people. My mother keeps house and
takes care of my father, my brother and me. She is very good at
cooking and she is clever with her hands. She is very practical.
We try to help her with the housework; for example we wash the
dishes, go shopping and tidy our flat.
My sister Helen is twenty-eight. She is married and has a family
of her own. She works as an accountant for a joint venture
company. Her husband is a scientist. They have twins: a daughter
and a son. They go to nursery school.
My brother Boris is twelve. He is a schoolboy. He wants to
become a doctor, but he is not sure yet. Three months ago he
dreamed of being a cosmonaut.
I have two grandmothers and one grandfather. I love them very
much and often go to see them. My grandmothers are retired now.
One of them was a teacher, the other was a doctor. My
grandfather has not been pensioned off yet. When he has free
time he likes to work in the garden.
We have many relatives. My aunts, uncles and cousins live in
different parts of Russia. They often come to our place on
holidays. We have a very good time together.
Our family is very united. We like to spend our time together.
Sometimes we stay at home and watch TV or just talk, and on
weekends we go out of town. But we are always happy to be
together and we wish one another nothing but the very best.

Теперь я хочу немного рассказать вам о своей семье. Моя семья

нас пятеро.
Прежде всего, я хочу немного рассказать вам о своих родителях.
Моя мама — учительница биологии. Она работает в школе. Она любит
свою профессию. Она высокая и стройная, и у нее каштановые
волосы. Ей 53, но она хорошо выглядит и кажется, что она намного
моложе.
Мой отец — очень опытный программист. Он высокий и широкоплечий,
со светлыми волосами и серыми глазами. Ему 56 лет. Мой отец
любит петь, и, когда мы дома и у нас есть свободное время, я
играю на гитаре и мы поем вместе. Отец хорошо управляется с
домашними проблемами. Когда он был маленьким, то любил разбирать
всякие механизмы на части. Бабушка рассказывала мне, как отец
однажды пытался «починить» их кухонные часы. Он сумел вставить
все колесики и винтики обратно, но часы не работали. Им пришлось
отнести их в мастерскую. Но это было давно. Сейчас он может
починить почти все: пылесос, стиральную машину, холодильник и
так далее. У него есть несколько полок, где он держит все
необходимое.
Мои родители женаты двадцать шесть лет. У них много общего, но
разные взгляды на музыку, книги, фильмы, спорт. Например, мой
отец любит фильмы ужасов, а мама — «мыльные оперы». Мой отец
увлекается теннисом, а мама не занимается спортом. Но у моих
родителей единое мнение о нашем образовании и воспитании.
Мои родители очень трудолюбивы. Моя мать ведет хозяйство и
заботится о моем отце, брате и обо мне. Она хорошо готовит, и у
нее умелые руки. Она очень практична.
Мы стараемся помочь ей в домашних делах, например, моем посуду,
ходим за покупками и убираем квартиру.
Моей сестре Елене 28 лет. Она замужем, и у нее своя семья. Она
работает бухгалтером на совместном предприятии. Ее муж — ученый.
У них близнецы, мальчик и девочка. Они ходят в детский сад.
Моему брату Борису 12 лет. Он школьник. Он хотел бы стать
врачом, но еще не уверен в этом. Три месяца назад он мечтал быть
космонавтом.
У меня есть две бабушки и дедушка. Я их очень люблю и часто
навещаю. Обе мои бабушки сейчас на пенсии. Одна из них была
учительницей, а вторая — врачом. Мой дедушка еще не вышел на
пенсию. В свободное время он любит работать в саду.
У нас много родственников. Мои тети, дяди, двоюродные братья и
сестры живут в разных частях России. В отпуск они часто к нам
приезжают. Мы с удовольствием общаемся друг с другом.
Наша семья очень дружная. Мы любим проводить время вместе.
Иногда мы остаемся дома и смотрим телевизор или просто
разговариваем, а в выходные мы ездим за город. Но мы всегда
счастливы побыть вместе, и мы желаем друг другу только самого
наилучшего.
